When we were in Buxton on Sunday, May 10, we were looking on the map program in "greenie" (the computer, for those who didn't know she had a name!) and found this nice little road that led down to the Sound where we could watch the sunset. We were amazed when we easily found the road while driving through Buxton. We quickly turned down the road, arrived at the PERFECT PHOTO OP - only to find ourselves rousted by the local deputy! What we had failed to do was see and heed the NO TRESPASSING SIGN at the intersection. And we almost got arrested for these pictures ... LOL... actually, the deputy was very nice, and just asked us to leave (the abandoned restaurant at the end of the road had been the victim of lots of vandalism, but with the camera equipment hanging around our necks, he knew that vandalism was not our goal that day!)

Jockey's Ridge State Park is home to the largest permanent sand dune on the East Coast. The prevailing winds in the OBX make Jockey's Ridge an ideal location for hang gliding. Mike got a great series of photos of a young woman (early 20's maybe) taking one of her first solo flights down the face of the dune!
